Weekly Update – November 16-20

Dear Parents,

This week marks Bullying Prevention and Intervention Week at St. Mary.  Please review our spirit day plan with your children.  We hope to have full participation by all students; both face-to-face and remote learners.

COVID-19 Update:

The custodial staff completed a deep clean in all classrooms and throughout the school on Friday.  All classrooms were disinfected and cleaned thoroughly.  We have two custodians at St. Mary throughout the day and they will continue to disinfect high-touch surfaces a minimum of twice during the day (e.g. door handles, bottle filling stations, washroom faucets and handles, etc).  The physical health of all of our students and staff is the underlying principle of all of our COVID-19 related procedures and practices. Please take some time to review the importance for your child(ren) to continue to maintain physical distancing, to wash/sanitize their hands throughout the day and to wear their masks at all times unless eating, drinking or outside at recess.

If students are remaining home for this week to quarantine, they can participate in remote learning by accessing the Google Meet link on their Google Classroom.  If parents wish to change the learning modality of their child from face-to-face to remote learning, please email me your request and confirm your commitment for a minimum of 30 days.

Progress Reports:

On Friday, November 20, students in JK/SK will receive their Communication of Learning and students in Gr. 1 to 8 will receive their Progress Report. The Progress Report will focus on student work habits and their attitude towards learning.  Our school will be delivering report cards electronically on November 20th (after 6:00 PM) via a Parent Portal. Students who are attending face-to-face (In-Person) will receive a printed report card on November 20th at school. Parents of remote students will receive an electronic report card through the parent portal.

Parents are encouraged to sign-on to the Parent Portal in advance of November 20th, 2020 to ensure your username and password will allow access. To access this portal, please visit our school’s website, and click on the parents link in the top banner.  From the Parents page, you will find a link to “Maplewood Parent Portal ConnectEd” on the right hand side.

During the week of November 23-26, teachers will host parent/teacher interviews through Google Meets or phone calls.  Information on interview times will be shared by classroom teachers.
