Weekly Update – June 14-18

As we near the end of the school year, we wish time would slow down just a little bit.  The last few weeks of the school year always pass so quickly and they are always filled with excitement and fun for students and staff alike.

This week, our Grade 7 and 8 students will be engaging in SPLICE Projects.  SPLICE projects are inquiry-driven, self-directed projects that students conceptualize, create, document and present on any subject of their choosing. Teachers mentor students working on SPLICE projects instead of instructing them, allowing students the opportunity to push their imagination and take risks without fear of failure. Project presentations will take place on Friday.  We are very excited to watch students learn through this process and to see their finished innovative projects.

We know this has been a year like none other so we are doing our best to honour our Grade 8 Graduates in a special way. Tuesday, June 22, 2021 will be the day we dedicate to our Graduating Class of 2021!

Plans are underway for all students in JK-Gr. 8 to come and retrieve their personal belongings on Wednesday, June 23. On this day, students will be invited to come to the school to meet their teacher and classmates outside for a brief end of year celebration.  They will also pick up their personal belongings, epi pens/medication, etc and have an opportunity to check the Lost and Found for any personal items.  Stay tuned… detailed information including the schedule and COVID Safety Protocols will be shared with parents in the coming days.
