Carnaval d’hiver at St. Mary

Winter lovers, rejoice! One of St. Mary Mustangs’ favourite festivals is le Carnaval d’hiver.  During the week of February 13th-17th, St. Mary School will be celebrating Carnaval. Throughout the week, staff and students will engage in a variety of activities and they will participate in fun-filled theme days. The true star of the show is always Bonhomme Carnaval. We look forward to his guest appearances throughout the week.  During their French classes, students will learn about the Quebec Winter Carnival. JK/SK students will also learn about Carnaval in their daily learning.

This year, we are offering a very special experience for all students. On Wednesday February 15th, all students will have the opportunity to taste a québécois maple syrup treat called la tire (maple syrup on snow). This event will be hosted by White Meadows Farm. Their product is nut free using only 100% pure maple syrup and food grade shaved ice. Each child will receive one taffy treat at no cost. Extra servings may be purchased for a toonie. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this event please send the classroom teacher a note.
