Congratulations to Madison Rea from St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Nobleton, who won the 2025 ShareLife School Poster Contest. Her beautiful artwork will be displayed in schools and churches throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto this year.
ShareLife is the official charitable arm of the Archdiocese of Toronto. It raises funds to support more than 40 Catholic agencies and grant recipients serving the poor and marginalized in the Archdiocese of Toronto and beyond. ShareLife-funded agencies serve the entire community, regardless of religious affiliation.
Madison’s accomplishment was celebrated at the February 2025 Regular Board Meeting, where she was joined by her family, her teacher, Ms. Paladino, her vice principal, Ms. Capone and her principal, Ms. D’Andrea.
Superintendent of Education: Curriculum and Assessment Anthony Arcadi told Trustees at the Board Meeting more about the importance of Madison’s artwork.
“Madison, through your design, you have not only demonstrated artistic excellence,” said Mr. Arcadi. “But also shared an important message with the community, reminding us of the power of art to inspire, educate and bring people together.”
The York Catholic District School Board is a major supporter of ShareLife. Last school year, York Catholic donated more money to ShareLife than any other school board in the Archdiocese of Toronto, contributing $167,000 (an increase on its 2022-23 contribution).
Several other York Catholic students were finalists in the ShareLife Poster Contest, including: Emily from Holy Spirit CES in Aurora, who came in second place; Mikayla from St. Mary CES, who came in fourth place; and Lucciano from St. Mary, who came in seventh place. Excellent work to these finalists and all the York Catholic students who entered the contest.
Madison joins a long list of YCDSB students who have shared their artistic talents and lived the Gospel mission by winning the ShareLife Poster Contest. Congratulations again, Madison!
