This week, we’re in for a big treat. Our youngest Mustangs have prepared a Friendship Liturgy and on Tuesday, March 9th at 9:15am, they will lead us in prayer, reflection and song. The JK/SK students are excited for this event and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. Thank you to Ms. Santangelo, Mrs. Sisti, Mrs. McGillivray, Mrs. Ciotti, Ms. Galati, Ms. Rizza, Mrs. Toste and Ms. Quintiliani for organizing the Liturgy and to the kindergarten parents who helped their children practice the readings and songs. Our faith guides us and keeps us strong as we continue to be a people of hope.
Teachers continue to provide opportunities for explicit skill development to bolster positive student mental health. The overall goals and success criteria for students include:
- I can recognize that stress is a part of life and that it can be managed.
- I can learn ways to respond to stressful challenges.
- I can practice, observe, and apply strategies to help manage my stress.
This month, we will focus on muscle relaxation and how these exercises can help us manage stress. Feeling anxious affects our bodies and minds. Muscle relaxation exercises can help us decompress and feel better in our bodies, which in turn helps calm our minds. We hope your child(ren) will share some of the muscle relaxation exercises with you.
The safety of all of our students is a priority every day. Parents, please remember to use the Safe Arrival Student Reporting Tool if your child will be absent from school. 1-855-856-7862 or go.schoolmessenger.ca
Parents wishing to change learning modality i.e. changing from in class to remote learning or vice versa are asked to email linda.d’andrea@ycdsb.ca to request the change and to commit to 30 days. The principal will confirm in writing the placement start date pending physical class space, ensuring physical distancing protocols are maintained. Please see the board flyer explaining the details: Feb 16 Switching Modalities_Attendance – Parent Poster.pdf
Thank you to all of the parents/guardians who are following our drop off and pick up routines. We are counting on everyone to do their part to pull up safely in the kiss ‘n ride area when dropping off or picking up children. If you wish to walk your child to and from the gate, please park your car in a designated parking spot or on a neighbouring street. To keep everyone safe, there is no congregating on school property.
Stay tuned for information about some exciting activities that are being planned for next week. We may not be on our regular March Break but it doesn’t mean we can’t experience a little travel and some fun excursions while at school.
Wishing you a wonderful week.
