Thank you for continuing to instill the importance of having your children log on to participate in synchronous learning with their teachers every day despite the great weather and other distractions. Students are still working hard to meet all grade level expectations. The teachers are doing a tremendous job to keep the students engaged and focused. We are counting on all students to do their best to be present for classes and to complete all assignments and coursework. Just a few more weeks to go!
No news from the Board on the plan for students to retrieve their personal items and to drop off school items yet but as soon as plans are made, we will communicate them with you. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
This past week, our students learned more about coping with stress, recognizing that stress is a part of life, and that there are strategies to help us cope. We learned about how our thoughts, feelings, and actions can impact one another. We also learned about ways that we can reflect on our thoughts and feelings so that we can better recognize them and how they impact us. As parents/caregivers you have a deep impact on your child’s self-esteem and their early inner voice. If you would like to continue the learning at home, we encourage you to prompt your child to talk to you about the four finger affirmation strategy. For more activities to try at home, check out this set of activity cards from School Mental Health Ontario: Social-emotional learning supports mental health through life.
This message was sent by the King Township Food Bank:
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the King Township Food Bank for your support and the tremendous generosity of your students, parents and colleagues during your recent food drive. We were truly overwhelmed by the amount of product that was collected which will be used in our food boxes and which keep our families out of hunger. We would also like to acknowledge our appreciation for the quantity of personal care items that were received. As you may well be aware, hygiene items are “gold” to the food bank as these are usually expensive and are usually not accessible to families of limited income.
Please extend our gratitude to your students and their families and assure them that the families which the KTFB support extend full gratitude to them.
